Students are required to have access to a placement or teaching role where they work with real-life learners in order to satisfy the 120 teaching hours, as well as 10 observations.

The level 4 and 5 Diploma in Education and Training will help you develop the skills needed to understand the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, plan to meet the needs of learners in education and training, deliver education and training, and use resources for education and training. Students need to source their own placement to fulfil this. They should have a placement secured upon application.

During your observed teaching sessions, you will be assessed based on specific criteria from the units you are studying that you need to demonstrate competency in and evidence in your portfolio. The evidences you provide will be cross-referenced to the unit specifications and will contribute to your holistic assessment.

  3. You may then choose to follow up with an application for Qualified Teaching and Learning Skills status (QTLS) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
